My journey into the world of cake design began briefly in 1977 when I was just 17. I took a cake decorating class and, after completion, I worked part time creating cakes for a local baker in my hometown of Newmarket, Ontario. 32 years later, in 2009, my interest in cake design peaked and I began researching schools offering courses in this industry. I found The Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts in Toronto and I knew this was the place for me. I wanted to learn from the very best and Bonnie Gordon’s reputation is second to none. I made the leap and registered for The Confectionary Arts Program, an intense full time course encompassing baking fundamentals, sugar flowers, cake design, photography, business development and more.
Shortly after graduating, Sugar Rush Cake Design was born. My studio is located in Newmarket, Ontario and I specialize in custom luxury cakes, cupcakes and cookies for all events. I love to immerse myself in the creative process…beginning with consultations, sketching design ideas and delivering the final product. I strive to be the best at what I do and I continue to perfect my skills, learn new and innovative techniques and keep up to date on the latest industry trends.
Bringing joy to others through my passion for baking and cake design is something I strive to do. I believe that the inside of the cake should look and taste every bit as good as the outside. After all, cakes made with high quality ingredients like unsweetened butter, fresh eggs and pure vanilla simply taste better!
